Etude House BR310 Nail Polish

Seriously, my random purchases are coming back.  I remember walking into Etude House, not exactly wanting to buy anything, but was just browsing when I saw some nail polishes!  Since there was a promotion taking place, I ended up with 3 nail polishes along with some other items (to be shared later).

Since it is still Chinese New Year, I decided to commemorate the celebration by painting my nails with a new colour (For Chinese New Year, we are deemed to have something new as a way to welcome the year ahead of us =D)

The one I'm sharing is Etude House BR310 Nail Polish.  Seriously, one thing that does annoy me is the fact that Etude House just uses code to label their nail polishes.  Given their cute image, it seems like such a contrast.

This colour, I believe, could be label as brown nude.  I like that it gives my nail a slightly posh look, without going over board.  It's subtle enough to look posh but yet, soft enough to look as though I'm not wearing anything.  It's good for me because my clothes tend to be colourful and hence, I really don't want to end up having clashes between my nails and my clothes.

In terms of application, it is quite easy.  I don't find it too streaky.  However, I realised that I have to keep stirring the bottle (so to speak) as it seems to thicken rather quickly.  I have to do my nails quick too because it dries fast and if it's not done nicely, it will dry to look chunky (if there's such a description).

For RM9.90 (with 50% discount), I guess one cannot complain too much.  Loving how it makes my fingers and toes look fairer though *wink*

Teal Nails

With the year drawing to an end, I wanted something less sombre and more cheerful.  I was at Etude House recently and my attention was caught by this cute lil' teal nail polish.  It's matte, but in picture, it doesn't show as much.

I do find the texture slightly thick.  I'm not sure if it's because it's matte as this is my very first matte nail polish.  But for the price of RM9.90 (there's discounts, so I get to pay less for it too, yay, score!) I do think that it is doable.

p/s: please excuse the poor application eh?  Been a while since I've done up my nails.  My skills have turned rusty :(

Binnings for the Last 3 Months

Been ages since I've done this.  I'm growing ever more in my binnings and I'm quite happy about it.  I'm currently on cosmetic shopping ban and will be so till June this year.  Trust me, I have ample of things to blog about with my huge collection of skincare and cosmetics that's about to spill out from my cupboard.

Here's the items:

• Body Shop Liquid Eyeliner: This was my very first liquid eyeliner gifted to me by a friend.  I like it cause it doesn't smear and it stayed on my eyelids for the longest time.  However, after a few months, it was giving me a bit of a weird feeling, where my eyelids seemed heavy when I have it on.  I stopped using it for a while now but somehow in all my binnings, this seemed to be hidden well till now.
• SiklyGirl Duo Eye Shadow 10 Gold Emerald: Again, another one of my very first beauty purchase.  I remember buying this as I was wanting to try putting on make up for a wedding dinner.  Works well, but because of my oily eyelids, the colors fades off quite quickly.  This was chucked aside and I stopped using it.  Time for me to say goodbye to it now.

•  ianti Luxe Jewelry Pact Powder (Dark Beige): Oh, the horror! I just realised that I've never blogged about this pact powder.  Lovely item for it's price (less than Rm20 if I remember correctly).  I was quite taken aback when I first tried it because the SA recommended me Dark Beige.  I'm actually quite fair and so usually I go for something lighter.  However, the colour matches my skin well and it works well as a foundation powder.  I tend to reach out for it because I'm lazy like that =P.  I'm not sure if ianti is still around because I don't really see it anywhere.  The branch in Times Square which I used to frequent has closed down since last year.  
• ianti Luxe Jewelry Blusher (#04 - Sexy Pink):  What can I say, love the colour and the softness of it when applied on my cheeks.  Downside of this is, the colour fades off rather quickly, around 2 hours.  I had to throw it away because the packaging was plastic and the cover broke.  
• Maybelline Clear Smooth Minerals Instant Skin Perfecting Cream with Micro-Minerals (BB cream): Man, what a mouthful.
• L'oreal Derma Genesis  Cellular-Youth Creator Pore Minimising Smoother Gel Cream: There goes another one.
• b.liv by cellniq Off with Those Heads Pro Sebum Gel: This took me forever to finish because I slack in between wayyy too much.  However, it still works well even though I stopped using it  for a period of time. 
• Etude Sun Guard Natural Covering Color Case SPF 42
• Skin79 The Oriental Gold BB Cream and Super + Beblesh Balm Trip Function: Lovely when applied on the skin but it's quite thick.  Does get oily after about 6 hours.  Nonetheless, the skin continue to look good after blotting.  It's said to have whitening effect but I could not see any effects from using it.  I tend to use my BB Cream as foundation and not on its own.
• Empro Diamond Black Eyeliner
• Vaseline Healthy Sunblock: Am now using my second one!  
• Etude House Collagen Moistfull Emulson: Nice on the skin.  Not sure of its efficacy as this is just a test tube.  Wish the bottle would be made in a way where it's easier to be poured out as the liquid is slightly thicker than water and tends to bunch (can they do that?) at the top.  I had to tap it onto my palm for the liquid to come out (sometimes it gushes out and I would end up having too much).  Then again, this is a free sample.

Etude House Sun Guard Natural Covering Color Base 42 SPF/ PA ++

I find myself getting lagging in terms of blogging, and many-a-times I ended up blogging items when it's near binning time! Gosh.  This item is no exception.  Man, what a long name for a sunblock: Etude House Sun Guard Natural Covering Color Base 42 SPF/ PA ++.  It is definitely a mouthful.  I shall keep it as Sun Guard Natural Covering Sunblock.

Not long after I bought, used and finished my Etude House Glow Base Sun Guard did Etude House changed its entire range of sunblock.  This is one item that is supposed to be nearest to the one that I used previously.  I really liked the previous item and I had really high hopes that it will work the same.  However, I have to say that both items are very different.

The one I had is pretty much a sunblock cum make up base.  Whilst it's good to know that one does not have to apply sunblock and base(2 in 1 formula), I have a little gripe about this one.

For one, I cannot apply this like any typical face sunblock because of its colour.  Otherwise, I look like I'm wearing a mask.  This then causes me probably not to have enough sunblock on my face.  I've not seen any "results" from the lack of sunblock (thank God for it) but I do worry because it can creep onto me later on.  Most days, I do just risk wearing "mask" with this item and apply a little more just to ensure that I have ample coverage.

Even if I do apply more, there is another problem.  It runs.  It kinds slip off my face after a while.  This kinda annoys me because whilst it's supposed to function as a base, it doesn't.  It causes my make up to slip.  Now I have to resort to using another make up base before my powder.  Talk about heavy layering!  But still once I do apply another base on top of the sunblock, it works.  My make up stays, and I don't look as though I am wearing a mask.  Phew for that.  Otherwise, this item would really be a waste of my money.

Will I re-purchase?  I don't think so.  I'm already on the look out for a different sunblock because the ones from Etude House doesn't interest me anymore.  Any recommendations from you guys?

Etude House Nail Polish WH701HD - Metallic Grey

Like I said in an earlier post, I'm like crazy over nail polishes these days and they got darker in terms of colors too! Haha...Here's my latest conquest.  Why did I go for grey?  It's also coz I'm in the GREY mode these days.  I'm even looking for a pair of grey shoes =.=  Maybe I am turning grey??? OH NO! That lady's GREY!! *wokay, me going wonkers*

How do I like it?  

I do wonder if it's me or if it's the nail polish as I seem to be encountering some issues during application.  This colour is seriously not easy to apply it.  A thinner layer seems to clump together rather quickly.  I guess it dries fast?  I had to redo my left hand and make sure I get thick and gooey polish using the brush to ensure that the colours applied well.

Other than that, the colour is so pretty! It lasted me more than a week without chipping of any sort and it's with 1 base coat, 2 coating of grey and 1 top coat.  The colour are rather pretty and quite similar to the picture.  At least a number of people commented that it's a very nice colour... hehe

Is this a rebuy?  Well, depending I guess? I'm still out searching for a different grey (Crazy me) and if I do find a better one, I guess I will forego this one, of course provided that grey is easier to apply =.=

Etude House Glow Base Sun Guard: Current Fave

Just want to share with you guys on my current favourite sunblock.  It's the Etude House Glow Base Sun Guard (sadly, it's discontinued and replaced with a newer version - of course, which costs more!)  I got this a couple of months back when they were running a promotion.  Marketed at the price of RM49.90 at that point in time, they were having 50% discount on it.  Coincidentally, I was looking around for a different sun block and so I grabbed it.  There were two, but when I wanted to buy the other one, it was already sold out.

What I love about it?

Texture: I love the texture.  It is on the creamy side, but not the thick and sticky kind.  It is easy to spread and still feel light on the skin.  Immediately after applying, you can feel that your skin is still breathable.  I like this fact because it's quite annoying when you feel something thick on your skin.  At least for me that is =p

Glow: Because it is a slightly tinted sun block, it does give a natural glow on the skin.  It doesn't make my skin look shady, rather, it gives my skin a rather natural glow.  Granted, if I apply too much (like massively) it does "glow" slightly too much, but with a little powder it'll be okay.  Sometimes, I even use it without any touch ups because, it just gives a natural glow to my skin.

Oiliness: Surprisingly, it does not make my face oily even after almost one day.  Given that my T-zone does get oily as per usual, other part of my skin is rather okay.  I have tried sun block that seems to make my skin glint by noon, but this doesn't.  I still have that natural look and it's rather easy to touch up with it.  I tend to be lazy, and not put anything besides my powder whilst I use this sun block cause, it is just such a good use!  

Does it work as a sunblock?  With SPF36 PA ++, I would say that it does its job.  And the bottle is quite big.  I am rather satisfied with this purchase.  Sadly, although I would want to re-purchase, it is no longer available.  Well, they do have the newer version that costs more.  Maybe I might pick one up and try =p  We'll see...

My Skunk Brush turned BLACK

Am wondering if any of you have the same experience as me?  After 2nd time of washing my Etude House Dual Fibre Brush, I realised that my white bristles are turning black.  Look at the photos below!  I seriously dunno what to do.  Any advice? Sigh.....

Etude House Dual Fibre Cheek Brush

Okay, the picture on the left isn't taken by me, I have to admit
that.  I can't seem to be able to snap the picture nicely to show you how my brush looks like, but.. OH MY GOSH! I love this brush!!! Haha... okok.. *calm down calm down*

Why the hypeness of it?  Well, I've not tried other dual fibre brush, but I'm quite sold on this.  I've actually done some research on it and it seems that the reviews are quite good, so during the recent "sale" whereby Etude House were releasing this brush at 40% off, I totally made a run for it! It's such a darling bargain I tell you.

I think you can see me lil brush in the picture below.

Being a star item for Etude House, it's also known as a skunk brush (looks it right, white and black =D).  I know some people used to as a liquid foundation applicator, but I've kept it to my blush now.  It does a great job transferring my blusher onto my cheeks and I can take my time to layer it!  Now I don't have to worry about overdoing it (I got commented once by a colleague asking if I'm sick, coz I think the blusher turns out to be too heavy for me *sad*).  As you can see, the white tip has become pink due to the blush powder (the blusher I used is right above that brush there, nice eh?)

Not only that, the brush is a mix of goat hair and synthetic fibres, so it feels soft and smooth on my skin.  Unless I look in the mirror, I don't actually feel the bristles on my skin.   

Besides using it as a blusher brush, I've also tried to use it as my powder brush.  I used it with my compact powder and it's great too!  The powder looks natural on my skin as compared to using a sponge, and it allows me to cover those hard to reach places around my face too.  The downside to it is that, the bristles are slightly stiff, so you can't actually "spread by pulling" your brush around your face.  It takes longer too due to that, as well as the brush's small as compared to the normal sized powder brush.  I guess that's why I'm sticking to using my cutie skunk brush as a blusher brush. 

I've washed it twice since I've bought it (a few weeks back) and I've got no problems with shedding.  It dries rather quickly so that's a good thing for me too.

It was just weeks before that Etude House's sale has ended, and now it's back on! It's even greater than the earlier sale.  A lot of their BB items and make up stuff are on 50% off.  I consider them quite good deal since their stuff aren't that expensive in the first place (ranges below RM50).

What's more, a few walks away, I find that TheFaceShop is also having sales.  I think the bargains are quite good deal if it's something you don't want to miss out.



What interests me are the masks available.  In both shops, their masks are selling less than RM10 with 20%!! Oh my gosh.... I saw a variety of masks.  What's interesting is that TheFaceShop has a number of masks that is of herbal origins.  Meaning, instead of mixing it yourself, you can apply a mask with herbal proportion in it for the nourishment of your skin.  I think that's quite cool!  With the price sitting at RM9.90 prior discount, and at RM7.90 after discount, it's definitely a good grab!  I saw this Mung Bean mask at TheFaceShop! I read that Mung Bean helps with those who have breakouts.  Mom told me that it has "cooling" effect, thus I won't be surprised if it does.  It's uber cheap ok!! RM6.90 prior discount, and RM5.50, it's a definite grab for me!! Sigh, my poor face suffered a bout of breakouts recently after so many years... totally at lost with it.  So now, hopefully things will go back to normal with all the masks and stuff I'm plying on my skin to ensure the breakout disappear.

I think the sale will continue to "spread".  I'm actually waiting to see if Nature Republic will have a sale!  Shall keep ya all updated... keke... meanwhile check out those shops ya!

I Couldn't Resist ~ Etude House BB Magic Cream SPF30

My oh my, I totally couldn't resist myself.  There's some sort of sale at Etude House (some, literally) and one of it is their BB Magic Cream! I chose it as it contains SPF30.  However, the SA told me that it doesn't provide much coverage, thus if the skin is kinda smooth, this serves rather good as a foundation with SPF (yes, I am lazy to apply too many layers of things on my skin).  However, due to a bout of HEAT rashes on my skin (resulted in heaps of pimples.. sob sob) I can't actually use this at the moment (coz now waiting for the scars and some of the pimples to lighten/go off).  Nonetheless, shall definitely review it when my skin is better.  Oh by the way, this lil' BB cream's sista is on sale as well! 

 

And I'm definitely tempted to purchase it too.  Shall see if it's still available coming Monday! Woo hoo.  Btw, I forgot to mention the price right?  It's Rm40 plus before sale, and now with 50% discount, it's such a BARGAIN!!  I definitely am having a "itch" to my hands right now... (oh dear, shoppaholic symptoms threatening to show up??)

Anyhow, I'm still using the Noblesse Oblige BB Cream and I realised that whenever I squeeze the tube, some sort of water comes out with it! Since I've never actually finished any of my BB Cream before, can someone tell me if it's normal?  Kinda worried as I'm not sure if I should still continue to use it.  Other than the watery thingie that comes out, it still gives me the coverage that I need.  But at the moment, I tend to mix it with Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream so as to "soften" the thickness of Missha.  Works quite well to me!   

Well do let me know if it's normal.  Else, I'll probably stop using it and throw it away or something.  Just to be safe..
