Watsons Deep Cleansing Nose Pore Strips with Witch Hazel and Aloe Vera Extract

To be honest, I was a little hesitant to buy this item.  Maybe because it's under the Watsons brand.  Having a in-house brand items is something that's being practiced back in Australia wayyy back, but being back in Asia, there's this sense of hesitancy and reluctance to give it a try.  Nonetheless, I was a little desperate as I couldn't find any other brand besides Biore (doesn't really work for me), so I thought, oh well, what the heck.

When I opened it up, the first thing that hits me is that it doesn't have the creases in between to make way for the shape of the nose, not as what was in the picture.  It doesn't fair well for me because I find it hard to fit the shape of my nose without those creases here and there.

Secondly, it's thinner than the Charcoal one that I was using prior. It does feel a little weird due to the lack of crease and the thin texture.

Thirdly, when I brought it close to my nose to stick it, I was suddenly engulfed by this overpowering smell!  It's herb-like and it's very, very strong.  I reckon it might be the witch hazel smell.  Ergh... if you are sensitive to smell, please, stay away from this product.

In the midst of all these, I have to say that it works.  It really sticks to your nose, so you have to make sure it's position rightly because sticking, because it doesn't budge once you stick it in.  Also, because it's thinner than the usual strips, it dries rather quickly.  It's easily removable too, which I believe is because it's thin.  At the same time, it does clear my nose of the gunks!  Nope, no pictures of the gunk this time round.  I doubt you can see it clearly though.

Seriously, it's just the smell that turns me off.  Otherwise, I'd say this is a good buy.

Sunplay Skin Aqua UV Moisture Milk SPF 50+ PA +++

On usual occasion, I wouldn't have purchase this because for one, it's moisture milk and given my combination skin, I do dread that it will get oilier.  However, this came with a package during a Groupon promotion by Sunplay.  I decided to make the purchase because it comes directly from Sunplay company.

Description from the bottle:
For Face and Body
Daily Use

New Solarex-3 technology provides a unique UV defense system that combines superior photostability, high moisture retention and anti-aging properties.

  • High SPF50+PA+++ provides long hours UVA & UVB protection
  • Super Hyaluronic Acid for long hours hydration
  • Collagen and Pro. Vitamin B5 to improve skin elasticity and helps to reduce fine lines
  • Waterproof
I would think that this product would be suitable for those who are dry skin.  With immediate application, I can feel that my skin is more supple.  It does dry to a little powdery feel, and it would work if you don't mind it.

However, for my skin, it's a no good.  My skin turns oily within 2-3 hours.  Also, my BB Cream slides within about 4 hours into the day, making my skin look a little patchy and oily at the same time *shudder*.  Nonetheless, I would have to say that the SPF50+PF+++ does work because when I'm under the sun, I do not feel like my skin is being burnt (it definitely does feel like it with the crazy burning weather these days).

I've actually stopped using it on my face and resort to use this on my body.  At least it works on my body and does not go to waste that way.

Etude House BR310 Nail Polish

Seriously, my random purchases are coming back.  I remember walking into Etude House, not exactly wanting to buy anything, but was just browsing when I saw some nail polishes!  Since there was a promotion taking place, I ended up with 3 nail polishes along with some other items (to be shared later).

Since it is still Chinese New Year, I decided to commemorate the celebration by painting my nails with a new colour (For Chinese New Year, we are deemed to have something new as a way to welcome the year ahead of us =D)

The one I'm sharing is Etude House BR310 Nail Polish.  Seriously, one thing that does annoy me is the fact that Etude House just uses code to label their nail polishes.  Given their cute image, it seems like such a contrast.

This colour, I believe, could be label as brown nude.  I like that it gives my nail a slightly posh look, without going over board.  It's subtle enough to look posh but yet, soft enough to look as though I'm not wearing anything.  It's good for me because my clothes tend to be colourful and hence, I really don't want to end up having clashes between my nails and my clothes.

In terms of application, it is quite easy.  I don't find it too streaky.  However, I realised that I have to keep stirring the bottle (so to speak) as it seems to thicken rather quickly.  I have to do my nails quick too because it dries fast and if it's not done nicely, it will dry to look chunky (if there's such a description).

For RM9.90 (with 50% discount), I guess one cannot complain too much.  Loving how it makes my fingers and toes look fairer though *wink*

Shills Cherry Blossom 6 in 1 BB Cream

For the strangest reason, I was really attracted to this BB Cream when I saw it at some website (no recollection of it now though).  This BB Cream is called Shills Cherry Blossom 6 in 1 BB Cream.  It is probably one of my very first full size BB cream which I bought (minus Maybelline, though I find that it doesn't fit the "full size" term).  To digress a little, I find that the brand Shills seems to be a little similar with Benefit (I mean a little) as I noticed that there are some products that's pretty similar to Benefit.  What's more, it's priced a little more affordable as compared to Benefit.  Maybe something to explore?
(please excuse the photo.  My notebook crashed recently and loads of my stuff are gone :( Have to retake and the bottle's quite faded as you can see)

Back to the review.  I remember that I was rather intrigued by its black packaging which gives off a "cool" aura to it.  However, to my disappointment, the tube is just a normal plastic tube.  Well, I'll say at least it's recyclable.  Other than that, it works quite similar to normal plastic tube.  You flip it open and press to get the BB cream out.  The nozzle is not too big, but if you press too much, it might come out too much though.  Thankfully, the tube is not those super soft tube that a slight press will trigger everything out.Another downside to it is that because it is black and it is plastic, my fingerprints tend to be visible everywhere.  Not very good sight.

Texture wise, it is thicker and more cream like as compared to the other types of BB Cream I've used.  I guess because of its thickness, it does seem to last me at least 8 hours.  Most of the others are pretty much gone after 5-6 hours.

As my skin gets oily easily around the T-zone area, this BB Cream does cause my nose to be oilier.  My nose tends to glisten by mid-day when I am using this.  Quite a hassle as I do not have a habit of blotting my face but whenever I have this one, I have to make sure that I do blot.  Imagine walking around with oily nose, definitely not a good sight to see.

The downside of this BB Cream is that it doesn't provide any sun protection.  Although I do put my own sunblock, somehow, knowing that the BB Cream has sunblock gives me another level of assurance that I am protected some how.

Still, at the end of the day, I'm just hoping to finish the BB Cream quickly as it gets thicker along the way.

I guess, it won't be in my rebuy list.

Human Nature Strengthening Natural Shampoo

I started browsing Down To Earth after reading about Paris B's post.  I have to admit, reading beauty bloggers can definitely create a hole in your pocket! Haha...

Nonetheless, I've been looking around for a shampoo that can help with my hair loss.  It's getting quite bad in the recent years, and I was hunting high and low for a shampoo that works for me.  I came across their Strengthening Natural Shampoo and after having read reviews of it, decided to make a purchase once I'm done with my old ones (my way of curbing my splurges now is to buy replacement when I am about to finish).  This works very well for me as Down To Earth's postage services (of course, with our Poslaju as well) is truly excellent.  I ordered on a Thursday mid morning and received my items the very next day!  Talk about being efficient.

Here's the quick overview from Down to Earth's website:

Quick Overview

Scientifically proven to result in 80% less hair fall and 90% thicker hair, compared to other chemical-based shampoos containing SLS/SLES.
Aloe vera-olive scent.

When your hair's been through the perils of chemical treatments, such as styling, perming and rebonding, it's bound to get brittle and fragile.  This will cause hair to thin and fall.  Now the new CreamFoam technology infuses your hair with Philippine coco nectar and hydrolyzed proteins to restore your hair to its former glory, naturally.  Your scalp gets some hydrating TLC also, so your hair is stronger from root to tip!

And this is what was written behind the bottle:

Save your hair before it's gone! Clinically proven to reduce hairfall by 80% after 4 weeks of continuous use, our Natural Strengthening Shampoo is infused with hydrolyzed protein to fortify your hair, and Philippine coco nectar, a revolutionary ingredient that bursts with amino acids, vitamins and minerals.  Our breakthrough CREAMFoam technology acts like a lotion to moisturise your hair and scalp, leaving you with hair so much stronger, healthier and shinier!

Below are the ingredients.  Pretty au-naturel, I'd say:

I've been using it for 4 weeks now and here's my review on it:

Packaging:
I bought the 200ml bottle and I have to say the packaging fits very nicely and allows me to drip the bottle well with its curve shape.  One thing that gave me a bit of a problem was the cap.  I appreciate the fact that it's tight and helps to ensure no leakage during postage and all, but I have to say that it's REALLY tight.  I have a hard time opening it to use.  It might be a defect for just this bottle, I'm not sure, as I bought the 50ml bottle and it doesn't have give me the same hiccups.  That said, we'll see whether it gets looser as time passes.

Smell:
Okay, I have no idea how to describe the smell, but it's definitely sharp!  It's not the best smell on a product, but I do wonder if it's due to the fact that it's all natural?  It's something that I'm trying to get used to though.

Texture:
One thing I do notice is that I have to use a little bit more than the conventional chemical laced hair shampoos in order to get it foamed.  The first time I used it, I had to top up half way cause the hair was getting tangled. It took me the third use to remember to add a bit more.  Another thing I had to make sure I remember is to shake the bottle.  It took me quite a few times to remember it.  With this combo, the lather works out pretty nicely.

Does it strengthen my hair though?  That is yet to be determined.  I do know that my food intake hasn't been as healthy as I wished it to be, and it may have contributed to the amount of hair that's dropping off, as well as it may just be nature and the amount of hair that drops off from my head just tends to be more than others.  Nonetheless, in comparison to the shampoos I've used thus far, this seems to be helping a little.  The amount of hair that drops off during shower seems to be lesser.

I guess I'll continue to use this for a while and see if it helps in the long run.

One thing for sure, I don't have to worry too much about stocking up because I have to say, the delivery service by Down To Earth is just awesome.

Beautilicious Magic Spell Auto Eyeliner

About a year ago, when I started to really explore on eyeliner, I grabbed this at Parkson.  I think they were clearing stocks as this was going for 50% off.  I tried the color and found that it was nice, just the way I like it to be and grabbed it.

I'd have to say, this a cream eyeliner pencil.  If you don't have oily lids, I think this would be quite a wonderful item for you.   In terms of application, one draw and you have a dark brown eyeliner sitting nicely on your eyelids.    Like what's written there, it comes with a smudger (a rubber type.. still figuring it out) as well as a mini integrated sharpener.  Great if you want to get that waterline drawn.

Sadly though, I do have oily lids and this is something that was thrown aside for a fair while.

Nonetheless, I came back to using it much, much later.. like a year or so and I found that it works well for me!  I guess the cream has dried up a fair bit and now it sits well on my eyelids even without needing any primer.

It glides on easily on my lids (creamy but not very) and it stays smooth.  No pulling necessary.  Love the brown, love the texture and love the ease of application.

I don't know about you, but I don't seem to see this brand anywhere now.  Any idea what happened to it?

I don't mind buying it again and keeping it aside before using it.

Cherry Blossom Shampoo

I bought this out of whim during Sasa sale a while back. They were having a promo, purchase the big bottle (1000ml) and you get a small bottle (400ml) for free at the price of RM16.90.

What really attracted me what the simplicity of the packaging (alright, another sucker point for me here).  I quite like its simple see through bottle and the fonts used on the label of the bottle.  Easy for me to either recycle or reuse it for other purposes.  The pump is quite good, dispensing a decent amount.  Now that I have short hair, I don't use a whole lot and I find the pump to be quite good in terms of controlling the shampoo.  Must be a good spring attached to it eh? =D

The shampoo works decently.  If you need a simple shampoo, I'd say it's a good buy.  It kept my hair nice and well managed pretty much 2/3 of my day.  I'd say that it does its job as a shampoo.  Given that I have oily hair that can turn pretty oily in half a day's time, it works well to keep the oil from weighing my hair down at least 2/3 of the day.  By evening though, I could feel the oiliness and my hair being weighed down.  Still, it doesn't bother me too much because I'm already home by then and I tend to clip everything up by then.

The two bottles lasted me for more than a year!  I'd have to say that it really is a good buy =D

Will I repurchase?  It depends though, because although it is a decent shampoo, it is a normal shampoo.  I'm hoping to find one that could help curb the oiliness a bit longer.

Clear 38

This was recommended to me buy my optometrist, saying that it's a brand from Singapore and there are many who are buying it to try.  I decided to give it a try since, heck, the Bausch & Loamb which was supposed to be working for my eyes seems to be giving me issues out of the blue.

Initially, I really like this.  It is quite comfy and it seems to work well for me.  However, for some strange reason, it started giving me issues during my last pair and couldn't last me for 4 weeks.  I though, hey, maybe it is just that pair and I bought another box of three pairs to try.  Again, first pair works, but second and third pairs started to fail me.  It was causing my eyes to be dry and I was fast getting headache from wearing this contact lens.

Will I repurchase again?  Sadly, no.  It is not working and these couple of weeks I've resorted to wearing my spectacles in order to give my eyes some breathing space.

I guess it is now off to look for another suitable monthly lenses.

Any recommendations, anyone?

Freshlook Colour Lens by MrLens!

Can I say that I am superbly impressed by the efficiency of MrLens.com.my?  I placed my order on a Friday/ Saturday and I got my goodies on MONDAY! Bless their hearts.  I loveeee efficiency and they thoroughly impressed me.  I think the best part is the fact that they called to inform that they are on the way to deliver to you.  Now, that is a first for me and a pure surprise.  I really have to thank Tammy from http://www.Plusizekitten.com  for this wonderful contest that recommended me this wonderful website!

Okay, before I jumped the gun, let me tell you a bit more about  MrLens.com.my.  They are the largest online distributor of contact lenses from Europe in Malaysia now.  I think the best thing about this website is that it is has the largest online inventory of Contact Lenses (check end of post for some of the listing of brands) at the lowest price in Malaysia (serious, the prices are awesome and are incomparable to those that we get from the shops).  I think best part is that is comes with Free Delivery (selected location; but overall shipping price is pretty decent).  By the way, it is free delivery for purchases above RM50 for selected areas in Klang Valley! Check it out at (http://www.mrlens.com.my/en/shipping.php)

They are also on Facebook; you can check them out at https://www.facebook.com/MrLens.my.

I ordered my two boxes of Freshlook Colorblends.  They are the best selling items at MrLens.com.my

 This is in the package!

My choice: Gray and Pure Hazel.
Look what I got in the package along with it.  It's gummi bears!  I super, super love it.  A simple, but pleasant surprise.
This is me wearing my pure hazel lens.  Look how natural it is!
Me before the lenses.
 Close up look
Ops, forced my eyes to be bigger so you could see it =D

I think overall, the lenses are rather comfy and good to wear.  I don't always wear it for long hours so I cannot vouch for it, but it's good to go for a fun night out =D  I like the pure hazel more than gray because it feels more natural and yet gives you a bit of the omph! If you could see, I can actually go easy on my eye make up because the lenses made my eyes pop up! Woo hoo.. this is gonna be great for days when I feel lazy to do my eye make up.. hehe

I think one of the best thing about MrLens.com.my is this: they have incorporated numerous programs which are attractive and would make customers want to return to their website.  One of them is the ·  Recommend a Friend Program and MrLens.com.my

All I have to do is just sign up for it.  Anyway, I'm already a returning customer so this isn't a biggie for me.  All I had to do is just to login and recommend the site to your friends.  Once they too, made their first purchase, viola, you get something in return. It's as simple as that =D

Oh, by the way, they have a Coupon Share with Friends to earn vouchers to shop at MrLens.com.my.

All you have to do is click "share with friends" MrLens FB campaign to earn RM20/discount when 10 friends like our page.

So, do give this website a try and I'll betcha won't regret it!

Once again, a bit shout out to MrLens.com.my and www.Plusizekitten.com for organizing this and making it so worthwhile!

Review: Cres Wellness Body Regenerist Fruiti Spa

This year has truly been wonderful.  I've received heaps of blessings since.  One of the recent one was an invite from Cres Wellness to try out their Body Regenerist Fruitti Spa.  I will call this Fruitti Spa from hereon, easier =D

Beware! This post is gonna be long =D

Here's the tagline:

Don't hide it! Flaunt it!

Match your well tended face with smooth, fair and flawless body skin
Wear those bikinis and sexy outfits confidently and admirably
Be a true beauty from top to toe, inside out.

Quite interesting eh?  I do realise that we tend to take care of our face more as it's more prominent and as a result, we ended up neglecting our body.  So, I decided to take up their offer to try out this spa.

Here's the write up on Body Regenerist Fruitti Spa.

Introducing the new Body Regenerist Fruitti Spa specially for women who clamour for perfection, top to toe, inside out. It is designed for those courageous women who refuse to hide anymore, who resolve to face it, repair it and change it! It is meant for those sophisticated women who want to flaunt proudly and confidently.

Formulated using botanical ingredients such as fruits and flowers, coupled with natural sea salt and yoghurt. The Body Regenerist Fruitti Spa serves to provide both a relaxing pampering session and result showing body skin regeneration therapy at the same time. The dead skin cells are scrubbed off using fruits and flower enriched natural marine sea salt. The aromatic fruit extract and flower scents are de-stressing in nature and nourish the skin with vitamins and nutrients. The luxurious fruitti body masque and the lavish fruitti bubble bath ensure an effective infiltration of essence to the inner skin.

Immediate result:
  • Skin is visibly whiter
  • Flaws and bites mark are lighter
  • Dark skin tone is fairer
  • Skin is new , young and elastic
  • Skin is incredibly smooth and radiant
Does it really work as mentioned?  Here it goes.

When I was walking to Cres Wellness from where I parked my car, I was literally hit my loads of noises and car sounds because the branch is located by the main road of Jalan Kepong.  It wasn't totally pleasant, just your everyday traffic.  However, the minute I was into their lobby, I was hit by two things.  First, my senses were hit by a citrus aroma that seems to engulf me once I am inside.  When I asked much later, they explained that the aroma oil is their own (wholly created by Cellnique) lemon oil.  Secondly, the whole place real quiet compared to the noise out there.  I immediately felt refreshed and naturally relaxed while waiting to be served.  You know the feeling that you are unwinding for the day and just relaxing around?  I felt that when I was just sitting there.  It's a wonderful feeling especially when you are preparing for spa, don't you think?
 Lobby Area

After the initial filling up of forms, I was then invited to follow my masseur, Michelle, to the upper floor and that she will be the person who will be explaining this spa as I experience it.  I thought however, it would be good to get an explanation or a rough idea what to expect because I wasn't inform of anything earlier.  Maybe it's different for different person I guess. By the way, the lemon scent continues to embrace me even as I went upstairs.  It was a pleasant thing really, because it just makes me feel more relaxed every step I took whilst heading upstairs.  Well, I was led to a massage room which was situated at the end of the hall.  I felt the rooms were a tad too dark as I walked into it.  It would have been good if the rooms were slightly brighter and could be dimmed during the massage.

the view as I was walking upstairs

I love this lounge area! So comfy looking

I was then asked to change out of my clothes and was given a towel and a disposable undies to change into.  Ample time was given for me to do so.  This is good because I've experienced situations where the person seemingly rushing me to change in order to get started.  I was treated to a half an hour Anti-Stress Back Massage.  Below is the description of it:

Anti Stress Back Massage
Using vitamin riched aromatic botanical essential oil, total relaxation of mind and body, stimulate detoxification through lymph nodes, increase blood circulation and de-stress the tensed muscle.

I have to say that Michelle was absolutely fabulous.  The pressure was just nice and she went through the massage slowly, ensuring all my pressure points and lymph nodes were given all the attention.  I felt totally relaxed and wished for a longer massage because it was just so utterly delicious and relaxing.

After the massage, Michelle proceeded to cover me with the Fruitti Yoghurt Masque and Fruitti Scrub combined.

Fruitti Yoghurt Masque
Contains natural fruits extracts from pineapple, lemon, rose and orange. Rich in Vitamin C and fruit enzymes that make skin incredibly elastic and hydrated. The lactic acid in the yoghurt is effective in reducing acne and tightens pores. Enriched with pure essential oil from jojoba for a more moisturized and smooth complexion.

Frutti Scrub
Contains natural marine sea salt, luscious rose petals and pineapple puree. Rich in vitamin B, C and E, exfoliate to remove dead skin cells of the body, expose a layer of young skin cell for a better absorption of vitamins, moisture and essence, leaving skin young, rejuvenated and baby-smooth.

The rubdown given by Michelle with the scrub was really good and I have to say that the masque smells nice.  She did a thorough in getting my entire body covered with the mixture.  I know some of you might not like scrubs but I have to say that this is quite gentle.  It doesn't feel abrasive or painful.  Plus Michelle was applying the masque as though she is doing another round of simple massage all throughout my body.

Once that is done, I was covered with blankets up to my neck and Michelle start fiddling with some plastic.  She explained that I will be covered by the hot blanket:

Thermal Blanket Heat Infusion
Promote a high infiltration of essence and nutrients into the epidermis layer by stimulating the lymphatic and blood circulation through heat.

It seems that it will work amazingly well with the masque.  Although it's called a hot blanket, the temperature was set to warm.  She explains that it's set to a temperature that is enough to work the masque for its benefit.  I was then left alone for about 15 minutes or so and during that time, I remember dozing off and feeling rather comfortable.  It was nearing the end that I started feeling slightly sticky.

After the 20 minutes or so was done, Michelle came in and started removing the hot blanket from me. Once that is done, she personally assisted on wearing a robe and led me to my bubble bath.  It is situated in a different room, but I have to say the design of the room was amazingly cozy and I felt so at home when I got in there.  There was a bath tub situated in that room and a simple staircase inbuilt leading me to the tub.  Oh so inviting... I was greatly anticipating the bubble bath.

Fruitti Bubble Bath
A lavish, long soak in a tub of warm creamy bubble bath rich in vitamin B, C and E to unleash all your tensed muscles and stressed mind. Contains fruits moisture, almond and lactic acid, effective in combating skin irritation, eczema and acne problems. Leaving skin ultra smooth, white, young and hydrated.

I have to say that the service provided was good.  I was given a different set of towel and it was all positioned nicely.  I was left alone for roughly another 20 minutes or so.  There was already a cup of water and a packet of biscuit situated at the side of the bath tub, easily reachable for my consumption.  Another blanket was position at the top as a head rest for me.  All in all it was quite nice and I find myself in bliss for that short time there.  I do, however, have a gripe.  I wished that the tub was slightly deeper.  I find myself having to keep repositioning myself to ensure that I was soaked in the water nicely.  That means a lot of moving about.  Although there was minimal sloshing, the bubbles disappeared rather quickly due to it.

Nonetheless, the bubble bath, designed to be hydrating and nourishing, does leave my skin feeling softer and smoother.  I could feel that the areas like my elbow and my knees looking much better and not as wrinkly (I'm guilty of not taking so good care of my body).

Overall, I am satisfied with this spa.  I think I wouldn't mind dropping by Cres should I need a body massage =D

Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer

I've always been trying to get a good pencil eye liner that wouldn't run and make me look like a panda everytime I use it, however it is quite tough.

Nonetheless, during one of my escapades, or my shopping trip, I was simply caught by this eyeliner by Rimmel.  The name is called Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer.

"Exaggerate" in capital letters!
Here's what I like about it:

It's creamy in texture.  Reminds me of crayon, although it's not as hard as crayons.  It does glide easily on my eye and it's really black!  I like that cause I don't have to keep lining my eyes just to make sure it's dark.  However, because it's creamy, if I do line my eyes a few times, it makes me feel like there's a chunk of things on my eye lid.  I try to minimise the number of lining by using a eye liner brush.  It works to ensure that the color is deposited nicely and evenly.

The left side is only one layer whereas the right side is 2 layers.  If you look to build it up, this is quite a good black eyeliner.

However, much to my chagrine, it often makes me look like a panda. Sigh, once again, the smudges are much stronger than I wish it to be.  I don't doubt that it's the eyeliner's fault, as much as it is my own oily lids' issue here.  Because it is really black (I love the black!) it literally made my eyes look bad with all its smudging.  I look like a sick person most of the time.

I'm trying to use it all up by making sure I put layers of eye base/ powder, yada yada... but looking at it, it might take a smite longer than I intend to.

Oh well, no re-purchase for me on this, and not recommended to those who has oily eye lids like me too!

Elisha Coy Nudy BB Cream

I got this sample from a colleague who started distributing a number of packets of it to all the female colleagues. I've seen this brand around but never did pay much attention it.  Well, since it's free, one ought to give it a try eh? hehe..

I have to say that this is one of the loveliest BB cream I've ever used.

One of the best thing about it is the texture.  It is not too runny or too thick.  I find that its texture is just at the right level, making it easy to apply onto my skin.  In terms of coverage, it is just right.  I won't say it can cover everything (I doubt anything can do that unless you make sure you put concealer), but it does cover the blemishes and redness.  It also even up the skin well.  I think the best part is, once applied, it gives the skin a natural glow and you don't look as though you've piled a lot of things onto your skin.  I like!

In terms of oil control, I think it works fairly well.  It can last for around 6 hours and only the T-zone looks slightly oiler (that's partly due to my oily T-zone).  I do dust a bit of powder once I've applied it for oil control purpose ya.

It is definitely one of the item that I frequently reach out to.  Like I said, this is a sample that I got and I have no idea where I can get my hands on it.  If I could, I will definitely make a dash and go buy one.  Right now, in order not to finish it too soon, I actually alternate it with some other BB creams.  Well, desperate moments requires some desperate action from my end... hehe

Stage Photo Pro Creme Camouflage

For some strange reasons I only tend to venture to Stage when they are having promotion. And best part is, most of the time I do end up visiting them is when they are having sale but I don't know about it!

During one of those ventures, I ended up purchasing Stage's Photo Pro Creme Camouflage.  To be honest, I had no intention of getting a concealer because I rarely used them.  However, the MUA was so good in promoting the item to me and showing me how to use it and I ended up buying it.  Then again, it didn't burn a hole in my pocket because they were selling it at RM18 at that time.  Score!

 Love the sleek looking packaging!

I got 04 Buff for my skin

I quite like this concealer.  It's my first cream concealer and I have to say that it works well.

In terms of coverage, it does well to cover some of my acne scars as well as some redness here and there. I like to use this for my dark circles though.  It doesn't cake around my eyes and once applied, it makes me look fresher.  This is good because I do tend to look tired with the dark circles around my eyes.

Another thing that I like this is because of its creamy texture, allowing me the ease to blend it.  It's not too thick either so it's easily worked onto my skin.

One note to using a concealer.  Please make sure you blend it well so that it doesn't look patchy on your skin.  There are times where I only dust some light powder over my face after the concealer and it makes my make up looks simple and nature.

Fruit of the Earth Block Up SPF 50

There seems to be a spurt of different range of sunblock in the market in the recent months.  First it was Ocean Potion and then it was the Fruit of the Earth range (from hereon will be referred to FOTE).  I saw a small bottle of it at one of the hypermarket, Carrefour and thought I'd grab one to give it a try, since I was running low on the Ocean Potion Anti-Aging Sunblock SPF 50 Ultra Light.  The one I got my hands on is the FOTE Block Up! Full Spectrum SPF 50 with Aloe Vera.

Their website describes this item as follows:

Experience the cutting edge of suncare with the added UVA/UVB protection of avobezone! The Best Sun Protection Available Today.

Features:

  • Protects against UVA1, UVA2, and UVB rays
  • Anti-oxidants A, C & E combat free radicals
  • Prevents premature aging
  • Designed to use all year-round
  • water and sweat resistant
The one I got is a 30ml, so it's very travel friendly.  I am a sucker for travelling goodies and this one is a good size.

So how does it fare as a sunblock?
Being one with SPF 50, it does work to ensure that I don't get burn, especially my hands, with the crazy erratic weather here in Malaysia.

Smell
I wouldn't say it smells cloying, but I'd say it's definitely void of any good smell.  The only word to describe it is that it smells like chemical.  Since this is an item for the body, I'm not to worried about the smell.  I guess it can be a turn off to some.

Texture
It is slightly creamy, but not as thick as the Ocean Potion.  I'd say one thing is good though, it's not sticky.  Once applied, you don't feel as though there is a film on your skin.  That works well for me since I dislike the sticky feeling. I guess as it is slightly lighter in terms of texture, it doesn't take too long to apply the sunblock.  Well, this is in comparison to the Ocean Potion item I got. With this item, you know you are applying sunblock and not lotion due to the texture.

Packaging,
It comes in the form tube.  It works for me because I don't have to keep tilting the bottle to pour it out.  I guess partly it's due to the size as well.

For its price point, if I am not wrong, the big bottle is costing about RM22.90-RM24.90.  Quite an okay price I'd say, for a bottle of 88ml.

Will I get it?  Well, that's a tricky question because I am a little turn off by the smell.  It's an item that I would contemplate a little more before proceeding to repurchase I guess.

Organic Aid Vitamin E Moisturising Cream

I usually tend to avoid cream products as I have oily combination skin and creams tend to break me out.  However, due to some strange reason, my skin was getting rather dry and it was a painful experience because I was breaking out due to the dryness!  Saying I was at loss was an understatement.  I'm still trying to figure out the cause of the break out but I was more active in trying to look for a product that would help me overcome the dryness.  I'm pretty sure that once the dryness give way to being moistured, the breakouts will cease.

On the other side, I do know that Vitamin E is good for the skin to help the skin.  I've read here that some of the other benefits of Vitamin E are these:
  • vitamin e products help reduce the appearance of stretch marks
  • vitamin e can help prevent the appearance of age spots
  • it helps maintain the skin’s oil balance during the cleansing process
  • it reduces transepidermal water loss from skin and strengthens the skin’s barrier function
Based on this, it would seem that Vitamin E does function well when applied onto the skin.

I noticed this Organic Aid product for eons, but because of my aversion to cream products, I never did get my hands on it.  That is, until recently (so you could imagine the desperation that I have to resort to creams due to the dryness and tightness of my skin).  I am thankful that they do produce two sizes, so that I can grab the smaller one to try.

Here's the description:
New vitamin E moisturizing cream with amino acids is a  gentle and effective skin-care product that contains vitamin E to promote and maintain a healthy, radiant complexion. And amino acids to help restore nutrients to rough skin. Our special formula also includes natural emollients for added softness, plus moisture replenishing humectants to protect against the sun and wind. One application of Vitamin E Moisturizing Cream will soothe and refresh dry, rough skin and leave it creamy-smooth and naturally beautiful.

And here's the ingredients:
Deionized Water, Glycol Monostearate, Propylene Glycol Monostearate, Diglycol Stearate, Triethanolamine, Hydrolized Amino Acids, Vitamin E (1000 I.U. d-Alpha Tocopheryl) and Fragrance.

I did a check online and found that their main website does not contain anymore skin care, rather, only their hair care and hand care sets.  I guess they are phasing out?  Not very sure though.

It's stated on the bottle that it's non-sticky and non-greasy, which to me, is quite rare given that it is a cream product.  We all do know that there is some level of greasiness and stickiness when it comes to a cream product.

However, to my surprise, Organic Aid Vitamin E Moisturising Cream really is as it claims.  The initial feel of this product is that it feels thick and a little hard to apply.  It seems to be absorb to the skin right immediately, unlike other creams and lotions which you would need to massage them to get your skin absorb it.  There seemed to be a layer of film during the initial few seconds (or minutes?) but right after that there isn't any stickiness or greasiness, as said earlier.  I am rather impressed by it.

After a couple of weeks of consistent application day and night (seriously, I had to use it during the day cause my skin was that bad), I find my skin is getting better.  I look more refreshing and was regaining the fair and unblemished look.  Alright, there are still a bit of scarring on my skin that has yet to fade off from the breakout, but it's good to say the least that I don't have crazy breakouts anymore, except those that tend to pop up during that time of the month.  My skin also feels smoother and softer.  I quite like touching my skin nowadays... haha.. crazy I know.

I find that my skin is not as oily as last time too, which is good because I don't have to keep wiping my face to get rid of the oil.  Looks like the Vitamin E is working eh?  I am truly happy with this Organic Aid Vit E Moisturising Cream.

I will definitely re-purchase this item once I'm done with it.  For RM14.88 (or less during promotion), it is worth the purchase.

Ocean Potion Anti-Aging Sunblock SPF 50 Ultra Light

Having finished my sunblock earlier, I was on my toes scouting for a replacement.  One thing I know what the fact that I wanted to look for one that has at least SPF50 since the current place that I am working is awfully sunny and without any shades.

I saw this brand, Ocean Potion and I find it rather intriguing.  The first thing that came to mind was OP - the brand for sunglasses instead.   Having looked at the different ranges that they have, I finally settled on the Ocean Potion Anti-Aging Sunblock SPF 50 Ultra Light.  The name is awfully long, so I will keep it as OP (makes you think of the other brand, OP for sunglasses eh?) Anti-Aging Sunblock SPF 50.

A quick check at their website shares the following description on the product:

Specially formulated for fair skin, Ocean Potion® Broad Spectrum, Anti-Aging Lotion SPF 50 provides higher sun protection against UVA I, II and UVB sunrays.

This clean, dry formula glides on easily for quick absorption, while enlisting Seaplant extracts and Anti-Oxidant Vitamins A, C, and E that aid in the reduction of cell damaging free radicals for younger looking skin.

Solaplex enhances the stability of Parsol® 1789 (Avobenzone) which makes Ocean Potion sunscreens more reliable and longer lasting.

Does it work as it claimed?
It works decently as a sunblock.  I don't feel the heat burning me as I walk around my office area and that is good, because like I said earlier, it can be rather hot.  It's becoming rather habitual for me to apply this sunblock on my arms before I leave for work, just to make sure I don't feel the burning sensation.  I'm starting to pick up on applying it over my neck and upper chest area (places where our tops usually don't cover).

Smell
It smells sweet; berry-like sweetness.  It can be pungent cloying if I were to use it on my face, but since this is for the body, it is still alright.  No worries, I don't smell like a walking berry if that's your concern =p  Some people thought I was wearing perfume though, so you could imagine it being quite strong.  I tend to avoid wearing perfume whenever I am using this sunblock.  It will be an overdose if I do wear perfume *faint*

Texture
It is creamy in texture, but it's not the super thick kind.  As it is creamy in texture, I don't have to worry about it dripping when I squeeze it out of the tube.  It applies quite easily, although you need to take some time to massage the sunblock onto your skin.  Otherwise you may see a patch of white on your skin.  Don't think you want to do that right?  It's not sticky though once you massage it in.  It is quite comfy, as though you have just applied body lotion onto your skin.  A decent texture, I'd say.

Packaging
I like the bottle.  I like the fact that I don't have to turn it upside down to get it out.  All I just need to do is flip open the tube and press, and viola! However, the downside of the packaging is that it kinda attracts dirt.  My bottle is turning quite ugly and I don't know why!  I store it as per all my other items but this is probably the dirtiest bottle on the shelf.  That itself might be a turn off for me to re-purchase.

In overall, it is rather decent for its price at RM28.90.  I might re-purchase it, but I kinda saw their Gentle and Sensitive range, so I'm contemplating of getting that to try instead when I'm done with this.   Too much choices for us!

Nature Republic Grape Fruit Body Lotion

There was a period of time where I was crazy over Nature Republic and I kept buying heaps of their stuff.  One of the items I got during a spree late last year at their main outlet at Berjaya Times Square is the Nature Republic Fruits Morning Fruits Grapefruit Body Lotion.  Evidently during that time, they came up lots of fruity lotions and facial wash that's hard to resist!

Most of the information written is in Korean, so I don't really understand it.  They had a tester pack available and I was trying it on my hand.  The slight citrus-y smell was captivating and without hesitation, I took it.
I've been using it on and off because I can be quite lazy when it comes to applying body lotion.  Guilty! I know I need to be more "rajin" or persistent in applying the lotion given that majority of my time is spent in air-conditioned rooms.

I guess you'll want to know how it fares, eh?

Okay, before that, let me share with you how I apply body lotions.  I tend to do it immediately after shower, pat my body a lil dry (I mean a little) and apply the lotion.  I find the lotions apply much better this way and it keeps my body more moisturised.

Texture
The lotion is slightly on the thicker side.  It's not as liquid as water but yet at the same time it's not as thick as creams (think Rosken Body Cream).  I like it when I apply with onto my slightly wet body because it kinda lessen the thickness of the lotion.
However, if I use this on my dry and clean body, I do find it a bit too sticky to my liking.  So I just stick to using it after I shower (whenever I do remember and not that lazy).

Smell
Of course it's Grape Fruit smell! What do you expect huh? Hehe, well, it gives the citrusy smell plus a little of the sweet smell, and it is quite decent.  At least it doesn't smell cloying to me.  By the way, it does get quite citrusy, so if you don't really fancy it, this might actually turn you off.

Packaging
It comes in a tube form which I quite like.  It's easy to dispense and because of its slightly thick texture, I don't have to fear that the lotion will leak or drip when I am applying the lotion.  The tube is quite big too, given that it's 150ml.  I guess it will definitely take me quite a long while before I could finish it since I'm so slow on using it.

Moisture Level
I tend to use it immediately after my shower, so it does quite well.  It is moisturising enough for me, and given that I can get quite lazy sometimes, it works well to bring back the moisture even with one application.

In overall, there isn't a whole great deal of shout-out for this body lotion.  It is a decent buy for its price and it works well, as a body lotion should.

*Item was priced at RM16 during time of purchase.

Eau Thermale Avene Very High Protection Emulsion 50+ SPF

,
Don't let the picture deceive you!  This is actually quite a sample item which I was blessed with by Plusizekitten when I bought something from her a while ago.  It was such a sweet gesture from her! XOXO

I have to say that this sunblock is pretty good.  It applies on easily, without making your face feel greasy or sticky.   Rather, I find my skin feeling smoother once applied.  This is a pretty good thing because it makes make up application pretty easy too.  Also, it does not make your skin looking whitish.  It sinks well onto my skin.

I love the fact that it is 50+ SPF.  I don't have to worry about not having enough sun protection since it's so high.  I find my face not feeling the heat even on days when it's burning hot (this is rather good given the fact that the weather's quite crazy hot these days).

This 5ml bottle actually lasted me for quite a while.  I remember bringing it along to my recent Singapore trip and it works fairly well.  Those who went to Singapore before would definitely agree with me the amount of sun exposure you face everyday with the walking and MRT travelling.

I'd say I'd love to buy this when I can afford it.  This is definitely a pricey item (sorry, I can't remember the price) and given that there's so much choice out there that's a whole lot more affordable than this, it'll take me some time before I need to reach out and purchase this again in the near future.

Like I say, I really like this, but given the price point right now, I'll hold out for a little while more.

MySolutions Waxing Service

I am one that do frequent to waxing bars.  After my second visit to CN Beauty, I was a little apprehensive about making a purchase of those coupons.  Nonetheless, a deal came up and I had a RM5 token to use up and I thought, why not?  I'm hoping the last time was a one off thing and that it won't be burning in my head for too long.  And so I bought the MySolutions Waxing Service for RM16 (ori price was RM21, but like I said, I have a RM5 token from Groupon and had decided to use it up).

I'd have to say that the service provided is worth a whole lot more as compared to the price that I've paid.  Let me share that experience with you.

When I reached, I was asked to fill up a form, the usual forms to record down certain information.  After that, something unexpected happens.  I thought I was being led to the room, however, I was led to a small waiting area and was given a feet soak.  After a long day at work, I'd have to say that it was heavenly.  I receive another surprise too when I was given a small bag (like ricebag), heated at the microwave to put over my shoulders.  It totally eased the tension at my shoulders.  After about 15 minutes or so, I was then led to a separate room where the waxing take place.

I'd have to say though, that it felt intimidating at first.  Why?  Well, there are 3 other persons in the room who assists me on the waxing process.  This is definitely a first for me.  I'd have to say that they work rather efficiently because 1 was applying the wax on both legs whilst the other two are station next to each side of my legs.  Everytime the wax is applied, they will start their "duty", so to speak.  They are quick, efficient yet at the same time, very systematic too.  They did a very good job in ensuring that the waxing process was as painless as possible and as quick too.

The regular price per waxing is at RM67.  It is rather pricey and it will be something that I might indulge in once a while since the service provided is rather good.  Definitely an experience, and a place to be if you want the waxing to be done quickly and efficiently as well.
